South Western Ontario Infection Control Network (SWOICN): Our Mission
MISSION:
To assist stakeholders in achieving excellence in infection prevention and control in South Western Ontario.
VISION:
To be recognized as a key driver of improved health outcomes through partnering, coordination of efforts and promotion of increased knowledge and best practice in infection prevention and control.
MANDATE:
To develop a strong, cooperative network of providers committed to improving the prevention and control of infections and infectious diseases in South Western Ontario.
To promote excellence, integration and continuous improvement in infection prevention and control activities across the healthcare spectrum in South Western Ontario.
To integrate the distinct infection prevention and control activities of acute and non-acute care facilities, public health programs, and community care agency programs.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES:
Evidence-Based Decision Making and Practice: SWOICN will promote the use of practices that are supported by scientific evidence or are considered best practices according to the prevailing body of knowledge.
Information Accessibility: SWOICN will support the efficient exchange of information and collaborative decision-making at the local level (i.e. assisting getting the right information to the right people in a timely manner).
IPAC Best Practice Promotion: SWOICN will increase awareness of and promote the use of best practices in infection prevention and control activities in strengthening the health care system.
Active Integration: SWOICN will integrate and link infection prevention and control activities across the continuum of care and throughout the province.
