IPAC EDUCATION - A COMPARISON
As IPAC consultants and educators, we are always happy to see new IPAC Courses come on-board! We do realize that, at times, the information can be a bit confusing and hope that this chart makes your professional development decisions a little easier. Please note: The information in the chart below is from course providers websites across Ontario in November 2011 and it is subject to change. As always if you have any questions, feel free to give us a call at 1-866-916-1127 or email a member of our staff team.
Improving Patient Flow
A new resource developed by the Public Health Units in the SWOICN area, CCAC, and SWOICN aims to help determine when it's OK to transfer patients/residents during and outbreak, or in the instance where an ARO is involved. If hospitals, LTCH, Public Health, and CCAC all use this resource, it will make the transfer process easier. Both algorithms are available for free download. If you have any questions or comments we would love to hear them - contact our office at 1-866-916-1127.

BLEACH SOLUTIONS SIMPLIFIED
Recently, SWOICN was notified about a typo in the Clostridium difficile fact sheet, found in our resource binder, Prevention and Control of Clostridium difficile in Long Term Care Settings. This fact sheet incorrectly noted the ratio of water to bleach in a bleach solution. While investigating this, we discovered it is extremely difficult to find a clear and easy-to-follow guide to preparing a bleach solution.
Our colleagues working in Environmental Services at Public Health Ontario have developed a simple, easy to use Dilution Calculator - check it out!
