Duration of Additional Precautions:
For 1 year after birth, unless urine and nasopharyngeal cultures after 3 months of age are
negative
Signs & Symptoms:
Congenital rubella syndrome characterized by multiple congenital malformations including rash at birth, low birth weight, small head size, heart abnormalities, visual problems and bulging fontanelle
Comments:
  • Only staff immune to rubella should enter room
  • Notify infection control
