PHO Welcomes Just Clean Your Hands

December 1, 2011

Just Clean Your Hands (JCYH) is a multifaceted hand hygiene program that was developed to overcome barriers to proper hand hygiene and improve compliance with hand hygiene best practices. The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) created JCYH originally for hospitals and was launched in 2008. The ministry adapted JCYH for the long-term care homes sector in 2009. In August 2011, the long-term care home materials became available to the retirement home sector.

Effective December 1, 2011 the transfer from the MOHLTC to Public Health Ontario (PHO) is complete and all materials are now available on the PHO website. PHO welcomes the transfer of JCYH, building on the success of the program, to protect the health of Ontarians by providing scientific and technical expertise in preventing health care-associated infections.  We want to hear your hand hygiene success stories. If you're organization has a story to share, email handhygiene@oahpp.ca.
