![]() About the Champlain Infection Control Network (CICN)
The Champlain Infection Control Network (CICN) follows the geographic boundaries established for the Champlain Local Health Integration Network (LHIN). The Champlain LHIN is a complex multi-stakeholder healthcare environment. Champlain contains: In February 2004, a group of dedicated volunteers in the Ottawa and Valley region developed a proposal which was submitted to the Expert Panel on SARS and Infectious Disease Control as a model for Regional Infection Control Services. All healthcare facilities and organizations were involved in developing the proposal, which was strongly endorsed by each Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Medical Officer of Health in the district. This document was described as a prototype in the Final Report for the Ontario Expert Panel on SARS and Infectious Disease Control (i.e. the Walker Report). In the Plan for Action Section of this report, recommendations for Regional Communicable Disease and Infection Control Networks were clearly described, with an outline of the Mandate, Membership and Implementation. The Champlain Local Health Integration Network was ultimately selected as one of four early-adopter programs to begin the process of realizing these recommendations.
CICN offices are located in the Interns Residence adjacent to The Ottawa Hospital (Civic Campus)
